Be Phenomenal or Be Forgotten
De'Aaron Fox goes by the nicknames “Fox”, “Swipa”, and “Swipathefox.”, the latter being a reference to the villain from children's TV series Dora the Explorer. According to his high school coach, Fox would come to school at 6 AM and come to practice in the gym every morning. Fox chose the number zero at Kentucky because he “fears no one.”
His dad says Fox would sleep on the couch almost every night and play the NBA 2K video game and that is one of the reasons he’s developed into the player that he is today. De'Aaron is a noted fan of the hit Anime and Manga series Dragon Ball Z with his favorite character being Vegeta.
Fox played one season of college basketball for the Kentucky Wildcats. At the conclusion of his freshman season, he announced that he would forgo his final three years of collegiate eligibility and enter the 2017 NBA Draft.
On June 22, 2017, Fox was selected as the fifth overall pick by the Sacramento Kings. Fox made his NBA debut in the Kings season opener against the Rockets, where he scored 14 points, 4 rebounds, and 5 assist in 24-plus minutes. In his rookie season, Fox started 61 games, averaging 11.6 points, 4.4 assists and 2.8 rebounds per game and was named to the NBA All-Star Rising Stars Challenge. Throughout his rookie campaign Fox showcased his ability to shine in the clutch, hitting numerous winning shots including a memorable put-back slam at the buzzer against the Miami Heat.
Off the court, Fox is a tireless advocate for breast cancer testing and support. He works with Sacramento based Albie Aware and the FOX Whole Family Foundation to help women and families get what they need to beat breast cancer.
